Morgan, the lady of spirits, knew the truth
and wanted it out for all the people to see.
She compelled a knight to carry a shield
emblazoned on gold with three painted figures.
Shown were a king, a queen, and a knight in armor,
the knight with a foot on each crowned head.
The people knew the beloved royals. The fighter
and offense were more obscure, unsettling.
But flip the script: If the king were a thieving fool
and the queen his co-conspirator and powerless tool,
who’s the fighter? This broadside is clear.
It’s the people themselves, unity their armor,
their settling ground the king’s own abuse.
They are the one who stamps out his treason.
